Some manufacturers register their brand new cars straight off the line for 1 day, without driving them. We call that a day registration. This can be of interest to them for several reasons.
For you, there is no downside to this. In practice, it allows you to buy a new car from the official manufacturer at a competitive price. Often the cars are already for sale a few weeks after the first registration. This way the car also retains its residual value if you would like to resell it within a few years.
